McKenna Schummer's story touched the lives of many Firestix families and beyond over the past couple of years. This amazing 11 year old little girl recently passed after battling a rare form of cancer (Osteosarcoma) since June of 2016. That summer Firestix players showed their support for McKenna by wearing yellow ribbons in their hair during tournaments. Since then, the idea stuck with several players like Madisen Henry, pitcher at Madonna and close family friend of the Schummer family, who wears her ribbon in her college games. Please keep the Schummer family, Todd, Melissa and sister Hannah, in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
The Schummer family incurred tremendous financial expense during this time. Please consider supporting the Schummer family through a GoFundMe Fundraiser that was established for them when McKenna began her battle.
